We have BCM 3.0.1 running and nobody is maintaining it. Sometime ip phones stop working all we know is to power cycle the unit and everything comes up on its own. Sometimes it reboots on its own.

All of sudden my CEO put this baby (BCM 3.0.1) in my lap and I dont know a thing about it. Anyway that was my sad intro.

Here are some questions and observations:
Observations:
1. E Drive is full.
2. So many voicemail/cdr/log files on E/D drives.
3. No Backup so far.
4. Ocassionaly Reboots automatically.
5. Does not let me take the backup on remote drive. (It verifies the password but then it gives an error message that "Network Drive not Connected")

Questions:
1. Is there any maintenance utility to delete/cleanup the old files.
2. Can I delete the following files:
a) All the files in E:\Backup and take the backup again.
b) All the Files in E:\Temp
c) *.log files in E:\Nortel Networks\Logs
d) voicemail files from d:\data Files\Nortel Networks\Voice CTI\FilePool\0\*.*
e) All the files in FilePool\0 thru FilePool\9

Any help would be appreciated.

You can delete a, b, and c

DO NOT delete d and e

BCM 3.0.1 is pretty old s/w in the BCM world.
I would suggest upgrading.

SD thanks for your advice.

I have cleaned up lot of space on E drive. I was also able to take the successfull backup on E drive.

My concern is how to get rid of all the unnecessary voice mail files on Fielepool/0-9 directories on D drive. It is consuming more than 2GB of disk space.

We are planning to upgrade to 3.7 and we have recieved the necessary upgrade set of CD's.

We are going to follow the upgrade path as 3.0.1 to 3.5 and then 3.7.

Any advice/suggestions for the upgrade are most welcome.

You should be fine with the upgrade if you follow the guide with each upgrade pack.

Was the system a 3.0.1 when you bought it or was it upgraded?

If not confirm your hard drive is 20GB hard drive.

Also confirm your MSC card ends with an A if it is a BCM 200 or 400

Thanks for the response.

I am not sure if it was the Original 3.0.1 or the upgraded version.

But HDD is 20GB.
Motherboard SH815
Product Version BCM400
BIOS Version 02.03.03

MSC Card ends with 0.

Thanks for your suggestions in advance.

Where can I find the updates/patches?
Is there any sequence I need to follow while applying the updates during/after the upgrade?

Big thanks in advance to all the BCM Gurus.

I would appreciate if some one can put me in the right direction.

I am not sure from where will I be getting the updates and patches for our BCM upgrade from 3.0.1 to 3.5 and then 3.7

I am not sure if i have to buy these patches?

Any URL which puts the light on this subject?

Thanks. I was not expecting to be charged from the patches.

Nortel posts the patches on their website in the Support section.
You may be able to get them from there.
At a minimum I would suggest installing the Cumulative patch and the latest Core patch.

SD

If you upgrade to 3.7 and apply the cumulative patch for 3.7 you should be close to being up to date. There are a few exceptions call centre etc.

If you want them sign up to my site and I will sort you out.

Marshall

I meant you need keycodes for the upgrade and they may or may not be free, And if your buying the upgrade get the patches from the same Vendor. Or go to mrmarshall's web site and signup and get the Patches free.

I will definately sign up the above website. I would also enquire this from the vendor who provided the updates. Thanks for the valuable informaion.
