I posted a question a bit ago and the answers I recieved worked great! The problem is I did not give enough info. I have several Opt 11's and the backups are working on them. the problem is I also have one option 61 and two option 81's and the backup commands for the opt 11's do not work for the others! Can you tell me if I can remotely backup the Opt 61 and the 81's?

Thank you

The simple answer is NO.

The 61/81s have a reasonable amount of backup in them.... as long as you are vigilent.

1: Backs up to hard disk, current

2: Backs up to hard disk, last but 1 (grandfather)

3: Backs up to floppy / RMD

Now, add to that that you have 2 processors, you basically double the above if you are doing CPU changes (check LD 22 OVLY).

If not, then at some point, do a SCPU, then LD 43, then SCPU again. This effectively will give the off line processor the "current backup" to HDD plus floppy/RMD. Remember though that the "grandfather backup" will be old unless you edd twice.

There is a warning on the SCPU.... if you have SCCS/CCx or CP you may cause a brief interuption on the ethernet.

If someone really has a bee in the bonnet about off site storage, you could try file copy (by necessity using PDT) or you could do the "trained monkey" thing where someone trusted can cycle the floppies / RMDs.

The comments given above are spot on. If you really want to get a fighting chance to rebuild a Option 61/81 etc, then you must access "pdt" and navigate to the db folder where it's possible to extract the database.rec and config.rec. I'd also get the zone.db file if it's possible.

This method does work, but as was stated, you do need to know what you are doing!.

In all fairness, it's easier if these sites still uses floppies to get someone once a month to zip them up and email it to you as the zip copy needs to have the "save folder path" option.

All the best

If it's working, then leave it alone!.
