Hello again

I was wondering how to set up a backup line on a Firebox II (there is little documentation about this product now that it has been discontinued). We use DSL at the moment but now have BOVPN set up so need a backup line.

With the SOHO box you can get the DualISP port upgrade which should allow us to use our ISDN lines as a backup but I'm not sure what to do with the Firebox II - can the optional port be configured for this?

Thanks

You cannot use the optional port because you cannot configure a gateway. You might be able to do this with some kind of proxy between the optional and ISP routers.

Otherwise, there are products that might do what you want... For example, a router using BGP, a Fatpipe, a Nexland Pro800 Turbo, or ALLOT. You then set your default gateway to that device and let it figure out which wire to send the traffic down.

So what does anyone else out there use? And would you recommend it?
