Arcserve 2000 on Windows NT. There are a few files that the job cannot open/copy. After the job is done, it gives a status of "backup incomplete" and reschedules the job.

I can live without those files being copied, and with the "incomplete" status, but I don't want the reschedule. Is there a setting in the job setup/modify??

Thanks!!!

Open up the job to modify it and go to the Backup menu. Select filter. You can add file or folder filters to exclude. For example exclude *.ldf or *.mdf files on sql server backups, *.tmp files., or a particular folder like c:\temp.

You can also specify filters for individual drives or servers rather than the job as a whole by right clicking on them in the backup selection screen and picking filter.

The job shouldn't rechedule unless it is a rotation job, and if it is a rotation job then it'll reschedule to the next time it is meant to go for. Also in the options for the job, make sure you have nothing set for "retry".

The job is a rotation job and retry is not set, but I found something on the CA support site regarding a "missed files limit" that will give a job a status of incomplete.

Now I'm a rookie at this but, "in the beginning" when the database was just starting out, I just got the incomplete with no reschedule. Now that the database has grown significantly, I get the incomplete and a reschedule.

Is it possible that the missed files has gone over the limit? Can I change this value from a number to a percentage? Please let me know if I'm in deep left field!!

Thanks a million!!

Replying to the original question here...

Under the schedule tab, make sure that "Once" is selected. When the job runs, that script will run the one time and then sit in the queue with a label of DONE on it and not reschedule itself.

Hope that answers your original question

This is what I found on the CA support site. Does anyone know if this function is available in Windows NT?

Thanks!!

ARCserve for NetWare: Setting Missed File
Thresholds
---------------------------------------------

When using ARCserve 7.0, administrators have
the ability to set the percentage of missed
files needed in a job so that ARCserve will
flag the job as incomplete. If you want to
set a job so that it will never be incomplete
due to missed files or set it so that missing
only one percent of all files is enough to
make a job incomplete, this can be changed
to suit your preference.

To set this feature, edit the asconfig.ini
file and, in the section [NetWare Backup/Restore],
add the following strings:
SetBackupStatus=yes
PercentageOfMissedFiles=x
X should be set to the percentage of missed
files needed to mark a job as incomplete.

For example, you backup two files and make
one file open:
In the section [NetWare Backup/Restore] of
the asconfig.ini file, add the string as in
the following:
SetBackupStatus=yes
PercentageOfMissedFiles=50
At the end of job, the job will be marked as
incomplete.
