I have a internal scsi hot swap tape drive from HP. When using windows 2000 server NTbackup it will not allow me to choose the backup media type (MY TAPE DEVICE).

The drive shows fine in Device Manager and Computer Manager. I can prepare and eject my tapes fine. Why wont windows allow me to choose the tape drive for backup??

I thank you all this is driving me nuts...

Need more info. Why won't it let you? Is it not listed when you run the service, or does it not run?

It is not listed to choose the backup media type Only thing listed is FILE. I noticed that in computer management thier is a blue icon on the disk and in description it says dismountable. Is that right? The media reads idle, free, and ready.

Thanks

Fixed it!!! I dont know how or why. But I deleted the BACKUP and everything under it(DDS) located in Computer Management. Once deleted I prepared the tape and refreshed and there it was. Hope this help someone in the future. The backup and everything under it reapperred afterwords and works great now.

Thanks
