Hi all!

I have been having some problems with Folder Redirection and Offline Files (primarily, files disappear from the local My Documents whilst still on the Server's User Shared Folders). I've used this feature as a means to backup users data and, I would like to look into other solutions such as Backup.

Is there a group policy for System Tools > Backup i.e. I would like to create a group policy so that the My Documents folders of the users are backed up with on a schedule to a specific location? Also, as some of the users are on the road occasionally, should they not be connected to the network Backup is postponed until next time they are on the network?

Many thanks for any help you can provide!!

Phil

You might want to redirect My Documents to a drive that has Win2k3's Shadow Copy feature enabled. Shadow copy could be configured to take an image of changed files on a regular basis, so that a user could restore a file or recover an earlier version. Worth exploring.

I'm just not having much fun with Folder Redirection at this point and, anything other than Folder Redirection would be my preference!! It has caused my so many problems to date:

- Files disappear on the local My Documents
- Outlook profile changes, possibly due to the .pst file not being available locally
- Desktop disappears again, this may be due to files not being mapped to the server and locally

Any help would be much appreciated!! Cheers,

Phil
