Hello, I am looking to get a Mitel 5000 HX or a NEC SV8100 phone system....plan is to have a T1 line with PRI for service. However if that T1 line goes down then we are with out phones...What would be a good solution to have in place as a backup? I was thinking perhaps having another T1 line? so in case the main one goes down it would failover to the backup...is that the best solution for redundancy?

I would seriosuly look at a combination of ISDN / t1 and SIP trunking

SIP trunks are a fraction of the cost of ISDN.

or maybe I can just have 3-4 analog lines as a backup? Each line is about $35....

With PRIMARY ISDN some providers offer other features like alternate routing, so if there is a failure all the traffic would take that path for incoming calls. Depending how much traffic you receive, would be one of the determinants as to the type of redundancy you might use. You might check with your service provider to see what they offer in that regard.
