Backup fails with Error E3712

Hi,
Can someone plase explain what I can do for Error 3712. Here is what I get in the activity log:

E3712 07/14/2005 03:26:08 AM 310 1 Unable to close session. (EC=UNRECOVERABLE DATA ERROR)
E6096 07/14/2005 03:26:08 AM Media Error [ABSL:4040 CMD:10h TapeName:TAPE-4A RID:12296 Barcode:]

Let me rephrase: Can you please help me understand what is going on with any of the 3 errors.
