I'm currently backing up a HP Server with 170GB, across an ethernet network to a HP Tape Library which is connected to an HP Server via SCSI. I have been tinkering with the server to improve the performance, following the NetBackup Performance Tips however, it seems that the backups are failing between 40-70GB.
I made the following changes before the backups started to fail:
1) Increased the Communications buffer to 64k (I did have it as 128k)
2) Created the following files: NUMBER_DATA_BUFFERS & NUMBER_DATA_BUFFERS_RESTORE and entered in 64 & 132096 respectively.
I seem to receive the ' System Call Failed (code 11) on failure.
According to the troubleshooting manual, it suggested the following:
1) Set the Initial Cached Size & Maximum Cache size to 0 to allow netbackup to use what is required.
2) Increase the virtual memory size (which is fine)
3) Verify there is enough space on the Veritas Install directory (which is fine)
I have thought about disabling OTM, as the server is not in use when the backup window is open, does anyone have any views if OTM is required if there is no active sessions connected and whether this could be causing my problem?
Also which Logs should I check for more information?
thanks for your help....
