Hello.

I have a customer who has 3 linux/unix clients that are beeing backed up through a firewall. The required ports have been opened in the firewall, but the speed of the backup is horrible.

From one of the reports I can see that the first server that is backed up is backed up at a speed of 25 Mb/min, the second one is backed up at 12 Mb/min and the third is backed up at 6 Mb/min.

The complete site is run on 100 Mb Switches with 100 Mb network cards everywhere, so the network should not be causing this problem.

The firewall is also capable of handling the traffic.

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to find out what causes this?

Best regards

Stig

The Unix agent is just slow w/or w/o the firewall. At least it is backing up. Try putting the BE server in the DMZ.

Thx!

The problem is that they have one Unix agent in the LAN-segment of their network, and it is running at 170 Mb/min.

I do not think that an added backup server in the DMZ is an option for the customer, but thanks anyway.

Best regards

Stig
