Hello,

I'm running backup exec 9.1 for windows, recently one of my backups has started to report the wrong byte count, resulting in the tape being ejected early as another is requested in the middle of the night.

This happened to me before but last time the problem just disappeared after a few days.

I've checked to make sure one of the backup volumes hasn't increased in size and they are all fine.

What can I do about this?

Thanks very much....

Compression? Bad tape... Maybe somebody dropped some data on the server in question. Are you using AOFO. Maybe there is a Veritas Stactic AOFO volume snapshot file that got left behind and a reboot usually will correct this

I've checked the server, all the backup volumes are the same size they were the last time this job executed successfully?

This job has failed three nights in a row, now.
When I arrive in the morning the tape is ejected, the alerts are asking for a new one as this one is now overwrite protected.

I can see that it's completed 93% of the backup.
So it looks to me like the compression failed and filled up the tape so the job asks for a new blank one.

Strange thing is, if I add the original tape to scratch media and then run the backup during the day it completes with no problems at all.

sorry, i don't know what AOFO is.

Thanks for your reply.
