Folks,

I have an NT network that I am considering doing backups using Veritas Backup Exec. I would (in theory) put up an NT or 2000 server with a tape changer and backup up my Sun box ver. 2.7 using the Remote agent and then back up the Oracle Database using this same Remote Agent. Has anyone tried this to see if it is feasable? I am skeptical of it being able to back up Solaris reliably and provide a bare metal restoration scheme.

Thanks to all!!

Good luck with backup exec. I strongly recommend upgrading to NetBackup. Too bad I.T. is not cash business

Yes, you should go for NetBackup. Get one server lic. for your win2k/NT m/c & client lic. for solaris per node.

That's what I have found from talking to others and Veritas.

Thanks for your input!!!
