Within the last 2 weeks we have installed a new Compaq SDLT drive in a Compaq Proliant ML530. Its been working OK but hen suddenly started saying bad media in Backup Exec and the NT event log show and error with cpq32fs2 on whichever SCSI port its plugged into. I have installed the device into another machine and it runs fine on this. Any ideas?

I have 25 COMPAQ Servers worldwide with SDLT drives. I too was seeing the same intermittent errors you described.

I began seeing the following problems across the board:
1. Unrecognized media
2. CRC failures
3. Unable to eject tapes without stopping/starting Backup Exec services, running eject jobs.
4. Finally rebooting the server to remove the tape (sometimes removing the tape).

I came across a possible fix at Compaq's web site. We are in the beginning stages of rolling out this "fix".
