Hi All,

I am having "weird" problem with the Backup Exec software on our mailserver. When i am trying to backup individual mailboxes, i am choosing selections -> drives -> microsoft exchange mailboxes, and then i cannot see all the mailboxes from the mailserver. i can see only 47 (out of maybe 80) or from "A" to "O" only ???? I am running win2k server and exchange 2000 and backup exec 8.0.

Any suggestions???

Thanks

I am running Backup Exec 8.6. Check the properties of the Full backup job and ensure that all the mailboxes are selected. Maybe someone edited the list. At my company, not all mailboxes are backup with the brick level backup, such as are SpamMail account. You can also check the backup log which should show how many mailboxes are individually backed up.

Sorry, i am running Backup Exec 8.5. I tried yesterday for the first time to do brick backup, however it failed. The message is:

"Unable to attach to \\MailServer\Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes.
Access is denied.

^ ^ ^ ^ ^
Unable to attach to \\MailServer\Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes.

I have created the new backup job, and in selection i cannot see any mailbox for user which user name starting with any letter after "O". Therefore i choose to brick backup all posible mailboxes, not by thicking each one individually but thick in front the "Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes" which should automatically choose all mailboxes. However it is not sucssesfull. I will later try to brick backup only few mailboxes individually... Any ideas will be highly appriciated...

Christine, thanks for your advice. There are a lot of helpful articles, however none of those is regarding that strange problem with not displaying all mailboxes. The problem with the brick backup has been resolved, the problem was that i was running the backup exec services with different account. i restarted the services with the right account and no problem. however i still cannot backup any mailbox which username starts from "p" to "z" ????????

Have you tried using the Text Selection view instead of the graphical selection? As a test, you should be able to type one of those missing mailbox names and see if it will then back it up.

Christine

Yes, i tried that. Unfortenatelly doesnt accept the existing mailbox for example with "p" as it is not there. I also have deleted on existing account and added new one but cannot see any additional account which start after "O". I am suspecting bug in Veritas software and has reported that to Veritas. Waiting for their answer. Thanks for trying to help.
