I am running backup exec 8.6 on a windows 2000 Server. My backups use to run at about 70Gb on 1 tape. I suddenly had an increase of data to backup and at roughly 75Gb backup exec asked for a second tape to complete the backup job (the total job ran a little over 80Gb). I now have reduced the amout of data at a little under 70Gb but now backup exec asks for a second tape when hitting the 64Gb mark.

How can i configure my backup to run on a single tape like it used to ?

Are you appending? Probably.

Change the job to overwrite.

It is already set to overwrite.

Thing is i didn't change any settings before or after the data increase, it automatically asked for a second tape when the amount of data went over the maximum capabilities of the dlt tape. I have tried to re-format the tapes but it still asks for a second tape at 64Gb (should be able to take close to 80Gb), it even does so with tapes that have run the full backup correctly in the past ie: without needing a second tape. (we have a 3 weeks rotation period).
