Hi There,

We are running Backup Exec 9.1. I am trying to do an ASR backup using NTBACKUP but the tape drive is not recognized.

I have tried stopping all of the backup exec services and then running NTBACKUP but the only destination I have available is FILE, not the tape drive.

Can anybody help?

Thanks, Damien

Unload the veritas drivers using tapeinst.exe , reboot, and start the removable storage service.

Hi, i'm sure your solution would work just have to find a windows 2003 driver now for the tapedrive!

I wonder why you cannot use NTbackup when using the Veritas tape driver, seems strange to me - maybe its because veritas want you to buy there DR add on!

Thanks, Damien

The reason NTbackup an not use the veritas driver is that the veritas driver is not windows certifed. Basically to be windows certified you have to be able to work with removable storage. Veritas recommends that you disable the removable storage service.
