Backup Exec 8.6 and Email Notifications

Does anyone know if it is possible to have any of the backup exec reports automatically emailed once a job completes. I am currently running Backup Exec V8.6 on a NT Server

It is possible.
On the BE tools menu,
click Notification setup
On the bottom right, you'll need to configure the different options.
We use SMTP, but Exchange is also possible.
Then, in the left main window select an event.
Click add notification and add the method you want. Now just add the relevent info.

Hi,

PMJI - but may I ask if it can notify me ONLY if there's a problem with the backup routine - eg. missing media or problem completing job, or error verifying backup job.

Unfortunately the emails are not specific.
The categories are:

Job Cancelled
Job Failed
Job Successful
Operator Attention

Jay, the one you're looking for is operator attention.
The problem is that it will send you a mail for every type of alert that isn't job failed/success/cancelled.
Every time BE tells you that it's going to overwrite the tape or that there's no media etc.
