Hi,

I believe that previous versions of Backup Exec didn't offer encryption, but I thought I heard Backup Exec 10d offers encryption on data and on backup media (i.e. tape). Is this true?

Thanks.

David

and the password protection feature causes many failures!

was ok up until v9.1

There was not problem with password protection feature. It worked by design.

What about running the backup to disk and encrypting the disk using Windows EFS for the folder that the backup resides in? Should work.

Steveot - what do you mean "it worked by design"

We proved that by enabling "password protect" it caused backup failures, as soon as we disabled the feature, the backups worked fine.

There is a Symantec article, veryfying this, and to upgrade to version 10d = we did, but still had the issue.

Maybe it only happens with certain hardware >

I will try and find the article.
