Hello,

I'm having a BIG problem restoring files with Backup Exec 10d.

Backing up goes well, but when I try to restore then I get the following error message:
Final error: 0xe00084f0 - The device timed out.
The semaphore timeout period has expired.
V-79-57344-34032 - The device timed out.

I installed the newest drivers from the symantec site, installed Service Pack 4 and went through the How to troubleshoot issues with a Robotic Library or Tape Drive in Backup Exec 9.x and 10.x document, but I can't get it working.

The adamm log-file says the following:
Scsi Address
Prt :Bus :Tar :Lun Attributes
------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
0001:0001:0005:0000 Device Name "\\.\Tape0"
Secondary Name "\\?\scsi#sequential&ven_ibm&prod_ult3580-td3&rev_57f7#6&1ee72d03&0&150#{53f5630b-b6bf-11d0-94f2-00a0c91efb8b}"
Primary Inquiry "IBM ULT3580-TD3 57F7"
Serial Number "IBM ULT3580-TD3 9210044154"
Device Flags SCSI, SN(TYPE 1)
Device State 3, Online
Device IDs 1003, {D73A458E-1B8F-4F31-B997-D90EA16F0210}
Device Name "IBM 2"
Device Type 134283265, "LTO 64K (64K,10,0,E,HU)"
Device Features 0x001BFA7F
Device Element 0, 0

But the SCSIChanger regkey doesn't list my IBM ULT3580.
Recreated it, but no luck.
When I look in the Devices section, it lists my IBM and says it's online and active.....

What can I do?

Thank you in advance!

Best regards,

Matthijs

UPgrade the firmware and SCSI card drivers.

Sound like the write head may be at fault in the drive.

Do a search on Use Fast File Restore and FsUseAsyncIo registry changes on BE support site and make the changes and try the restore.

Thank you for your reply steveot,

Unfortunatelly this didn't work.

Maybe I can uninstall the program and try to reïnstall it?
Or is it the write head....?
Because I can make backups, but no restores.
It's a difficult problem for me.

Thank you for your help!
