Scenario:

Single Dell Server (Win 2K) with LTO tape drive local.
Backup Exec 10d runs 2 jobs each night.

First job backs up Exchange 2000 to the message level. There are no recurring issues with this backup.

Second Job does a full backup of all drives as well as System State, Utility Partition, Microsoft SRS. This job constantly fails with the following error:

Snapshot provider error (0xE0008516): Resources specified for snapshot do not have any valid data on them. Check if files were deleted or renamed.

All information that I am able to find relating to this error involve backing up exchange, which I am NOT doing with this job. Suggestions?

It might be that veritas is getting into the exchange data
when its backing up the system state data or replication
information.

You could try changing the username that backup job
instance is using to see if its getting a
permissions error and giving you a somewhat bogus
error message.

The system your backing up.. what are its stats?
2003 / 2003 SBS? exchange 2003?

Doing a quick search i've seen people recieving that error
while not even having exchange on the system.

On some systems i backup the VSS just doens't work right.
