Backup Exec 10 Media questions

I'm using SDLT320 tapes in my Overland Neo 2000 library, with Quantum drives in it. Backup Exec picks up all the hardware correctly, except when I look at the "Media" tab, sometimes it shows LESS than 160 GB available for media. I do not see a tape setting for SDLT320, just SDLT, SDLT(1), SDLT(2)....

Also, sometimes it says "Total Capacity"=4.00 kb!! Other times it says "Total Capacity=117 GB" and "Available Capacity=117 GB", and it says "Media is not appendable (end marker unreadable".

Anyone know why this would be?

Well, after I altered my search words on Veritas's site, I found this:

I have a suspicion that one of my services is randomly failing and causing this. I will investigate.

Just make sure you on Build 5520 and SP1 if you think the services are failing.

I think I found out what was causing the services to fail. I have backup-to-disk jobs scheduled after my daily "daily" and "differential" backups. Once I deleted those jobs and disabled the backup-to-disk device, it's been working every since.

I just don't know what would cause it. I noticed it because my backup-to-disk jobs were failing without even copying data yet. Will reply if I find out why.
