Backup Error.

Hi Guys,

What could be the problem when you try to do back up on 3300ICP Mxe Controller software version 8.0

Below are error messages

* backup failed
* Unable to transfer file due to backup failure

well the /vmail folder is where all of the voicemail files are , so there's some issue with the embedded VM going on here. First thing you might want to try is just rebooting the controller to restart the VM processes, sometimes funky problems like this will fix themselves with a reboot.

Thanks for the respond. I did reboot & I did delete some of vmail box to free up space however the problem was still occuring.

If you open an FTP session to the 3300, can you access the /vmail/c/voxdrv folder? If so, what's in it?

Check your FTP server, and ensure that you have the READ/WRITE enabled...

use an FTP client to connect to the 3300's IP address, using your ESM (web management interface) login credentials. Once connected, go to the /vmail/c/voxdrv folder (hidden, but it's there). What's in it?

1) Open CMD box window (Start-Run-CMD)
2) type FTP <enter> (hearafter <enter> is assumed)
3) type open

http://www.xxx.yyy.zzz

(address of your 3300)
4) see User prompt: Enter your user name
5) see password prompt: Enter your password
6) type cd/vmail/c/voxdrv
7) see Changed Directory to "/vmail/c/voxdrv"
7) type dir (see contents listed if any)
That's what we're looking for... is there anything here?
8) when finished, type bye

I did access FTP server on my MItel box however 1 thing is I am struggling with is " when I type cd/vmail/c/voxdrv it tells me that invalid command.

What is that I am typing wrong?

What do you mean by accessing the FTP server?

We're wanting you to execute "FTP" from a DOS box on your PC or laptop. Did you follow the above "steps" or did you do something else? Following the above steps should get you there.

Perhaps we're assuming facts not in evidence here. Are you using a "Windows based PC or laptop"?

When you typed the FTP command to "OPEN" the IP address of your 3300, what was the result of that?

example open 10.248.218.20 (substitute your controller's IP address here.. don't use mine)

You should have been prompted to enter your user name... were you? .. example:[b/]
User <10.248.218.20:<none>>:
to which you would respond with your UserID
then you would have been prompted for your password, thusly:
331 Password required
Try typing the cd command by itself. It should prompt you

I think you might have to use "ls" instead of "dir" to display the contents of the folder.

You're not looking at the correct folder. The error tells you there's a problem with the "/vmail/c/voxdrv" folder, which is why I posted the contents of that folder from a working system. check the same folder on your system, and see if there's anything missing.

What UR of Release 8 are you on?

We have found numerous issues in UR3 and would highly recommend you move away from it.

Appears to be the worst load Mitel have had for years!! Since release 3!!

The problem here is most likely that the voxdrv directory is missing. As a result of the the voxdrv.cfg file will also be missing.

You need to do the following

create a folder voxdrv in /vmail/c/ then copy a voxdrv.cfg from any PBX into the folder voxdrv.

When this has been done, re boot the 3300. This should cure the problem.

My suspicion is that you have tried to do a software upgrade and it has failed somewhere along the line.
