Backup error - Could not find answer from Veritas?:(

Hi,

I've been receiving this error from my backup everytime I'm trying to backup my mail database from a different server and keep on getting this message below. I tried pinging from my backup server to the mail server and it was fine. Has anyone came across this message before and know how to fix them?

What version of BE ?

for v9 4454:
Make sure you have the win2k remote agent installed on the remote server, also make sure you have exchange option installed on the media server.

Can you see the information store in backup selections ?

Could also be a timeout issue ? if your backing up through a firewall make sure port 10000 is open ndmp uses this port to establish connection.

there is a utility in c:\program files\veritas\backup exec\nt
called sgmon.exe, run that while doing a backup and it will give you more information about why the job failed.

Also you need to make sure you have exchange system manager installed on the media server, the exact same version that is on the exchange server, i.e sp level.
BE needs mapi32.dll and edbbcli2.dll to communicate with the exchange server and these files need to be the same on both servers, they can be found in c:\winnt\system32\ .
