Hi all,

what is the best method to backup different VMware Servers (previous GSX Server) connected to a SAN by iSCSI ?

I think on backup VMware VMDK files

I hope your opinions.

Thanks

So I've pretty much been trying to do this since we got ESX setup and I've done a couple things. As of right now, the ESX server has a Backup Exec Client running on it and backing up the root w/ everything in it...now I don't think this is a DR solution for the VM's are still on and changing constantly. I also have BE clients on a few of the servers for file level backups (windows/linux).

My other main solution was to get Consolidated Backups to work, but which the documentation is very sketchy along with integrating it with Backup Exec a very misleading information.

I'm still waiting myself for a good 'How-to' but this would be one place to start:

While both mention consolidated backup, it'll show you the many steps in trying to get them to backup completely.

In the mean time, if you find a good script solution, taking a snapshot, back it up, delete it, I've heard there are some out there ... but with no luck here.
