Backup Devices??

I have almost decided on the Veritas Backup Exec for the software side of an backup system for a small LAN(30 PCs and 7 servers(Unix, NT)). Any suggestions for the hardware side? A full backup will be around 10 Gigs. Thanks in advance for your help

Sorry, I forgot to mention I am looking for an external tape device so I can incorporate some type of off-site storage routine.

Veritas is preety handy but dosent really offer any more than Backup Exec or ArcServe.<br>

As for a device you might get away with DAT if you want to use one tape for each backup.<br>

Better option would be a DLT External.<br>

I would probably disagree, Veritas Backup Exec is probably a good software solution for a group of this size besides if you get massive growth you could move to Veritas NetBackup. Hardware would depend on your budget. Backing up that much over LAN links to tape you might find that your backup window is too short. Adding something like a DLT drive could help here but you might be looking (if you have the dollars) at something like a DLT library. Quantum makes some good mid range DLT libraries that would allow you to run with little or no intervention see <A HREF="

If this is a bit out of the budget one or perhaps two 24Gig 4Mil Dat drives. There are some interesting options if you get two drives and it would certainly speed up your backup. <br>

I would really disagree on Magneto Optical or CDR the number of disks you would need and the potential problems with buffer underruns and bad disks are just unacceptable for a backup.<br>

The optical/cdr solution I was considering was a rack based multiple drive auto loading system.<br>
