I keep getting a "Backup Device Error", when attempting to read the set list media on a restore. I try to open a folder... it takes like 2 hours, then returns this error. I am using NTBackup on Windows 2000 Small Business Server. It is a Onstream SC50 tape drive. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated...

HI Cassioppi. I have the exact same problem. My variant is that I really noticed the problem on a 30gb tape not the 50gb tape. Can you tell me if you ever solved this problem?
Thanks,
David.

Dave,
We found that the problem was that we were trying to read a tape that was created using NT Backup w/Compression. We took the compression off, and now it backs up and reads fine. We were never able to read those tapes backed up with compression. I hope this helps!
Thanks.
