I have a bit of a backup issue:

we have just installed an Ultrium2 Drive into our test server, when we run NTbackup it seems to be unable to get past the first file and just keeps extending the "Time Remaining" box. We can however backup directly onto a hard drive on the server.

any ideas?

I've had a similar issue related to the Removable Storage Management database being corrupted or problematic. Try clearing out the database and starting over.
Here is a cut and paste from:
Scroll to the 'Removable Storage' service in the 'Services' window.
Change the startup type for Removable Storage service to 'Disabled' the 'Stop' it.
Browse to \systemroot\system32\ntmsdata\, and then rename all files in that folder to *.OLD. You could just delete the RSM database files, but my preference is to keep the old ones 'just in case'.

Anyway it worked for me on a Dell Server with HP Ultrium/LTO Backup.
Good luck keep us posted.

Hi Tech,

I tried the method above and managed to get a backup from the Data Drives. However when I try to backup the system drive i get a permissions error, i have ordered a copy of ARCserve backup all going well it will work and We can push the drives into our production server.

Thanks
