We have a terabyte of data and several volume groups and over 45 LV running a EMC SAN .Has any one backed up to TSM using savevg and restored ... If you have done it. How did you do it ...

what sort of data do you have there? oracle DB? normal files?

IBM Certified -- AIX 4.3 Obfuscation

I should have mention that !!!!! We have SAP/R3 DB2v8

my experience is with oracle (brbackup/brarchive using backint to pipe to TSM) but you should have a backup tool which will put your tables into backup mode and write directly to TSM. sorry to refer you to DB2 docs but your info should be in there, else call IBM since they own DB2 and TSM.

NO problem Thanks for the info I will do just that ....

Take Care

Yes, you can do it.
For AIX operation system, you can use SysBack which should purchase from Tivoli.

For LV, you can simply select the LVs from TSM Client to backup them.

For SAP, you should purchase Tivoli Data Protection for SAP

For DB2, you don't need any additional software just install TSM Client and use the command to backup, such as:
db2 backup db sample use tsm.

Good luck for your system and database backup/restore.
