This is probably asked and answered -- if so, please point me in the right direction. I (foolishly) tried to change the password for our NT Administrator. Now I am not longer getting the brick level backup. I have gone through (very thoroughly) all the different places that a password might need to be changed. Here's where I am now. When I run the backup manually it works just fine. When I schedule it it won't go. Also, when I uninstalled and reinstalled the Backup Agent (now it probably won't be licensed properly), the configuration utility worked just fine, but when I do it from the Start / Programs etc. Menu, it gives me this message: Setup Error StartService (): return (4). And will not complete the configuration, telling me the brick level backup will not occur. What am I missing. Everyone who has ever had this problem Please!!! tell me how you solved it because I am sure I am missing some ridiculously small thing that needs to be checked or unchecked or something.

Have you changed the password for the Arcserve NT services? In Control Panel, Services: for Arcserve Database, Job, Message and Tape Engines - click Startup..., in the Log On As section select This Account: domain\username password. Where username is your Arcserve Admin user.
No problem is small or ridiculous the first time through.

Thanks dand1 for your response! I double checked to make sure I had that right and just redid it -- just to make sure. We'll see if that works. One of the peculiar things about this is that it works if I do an unscheduled backup but not in my regularly scheduled one. By the way -- I am using ArcServeIt 6.61 (build 834sp2a) with Exchange Backup Agent, Windows NT 4 (SP 6) and Exchange server 5.5. Pretty soon I am going to have to call tech support. Thanks!
