Hi,

We are running Networker Server 6.1.3 on a WinTel machine, and we are having plenty of problems with savepnpc. The other teams are pressing for scheduling the backups in a per client basis (Third party scheduler).
How can I backup the system files and the indexes using the save.exe command. (savefs not being recommended by Legato).
Is there a way I can fully backup a client without using the savegroup approach?.

Thanks in advance for the tips.;-)

On the windows client, you can just use the following to backup the system files. Make sure you have a pool configured to accept backup level=manual.

save -v -s excursion "system state:"
save -v -s excursion "system files:"
save -v -s excursion "system db:"

The client index has to be backed up from the backup server, since the indexes are on the backup server, not the client. You can manually invoke it with:

savegrp -O -c <client name> <group name>

where <group name> is the name of a savegroup that the windows clien belongs to.

However, to backup the entire client, it's probably better to use the savegroup backups. Otherwise you'll have to manually invoke the save command for each saveset you want to backup with your 3rd party scheduler.
