Backing up to external HDD's

We need to back up about 100+ GB every night. Currently, we are using 2 external HDD (a different one each night) to backup data on to.

I want to get away from MS backup, and downloaded the eval version of Veritas Backup Exec. Try as I might, I cannot get a backup to suceed. I keep getting messages telling me I'm out of disk space. These are 230GB drives with nothing on them, so obviously I am not really out of space.

I think the problem may lie with my media set configuration. When I view the details of my 'backup-to-folder' selection, it says 0 bytes available....

Any thoughts on this?

Hi Mike,

If you are a knucklehead like me I tried to create 20+ GB backup without thinking about the Windows limitations.

Try formatting the drive for NTFS and this should solve your problem.

Hi Mike,

I am running the same type of backup (2 external USB drives) but they are running about 70MB/sec... Any suggestions??

Thanks
