I would like to back upa 40 GB file collection to disk and then back it up to tape from there. Why can't I find that option in Backup Exec?

My Tape drive went out and I need to backup to a file on a local drive how can I do that?

Get a new tape drive or email it to yourself at a pop account and don't pick up that mail until you need it...

You cannot backup to hard disk with backup exec. If you want to do that, then you need an IBM ADSM Server and the adsm option for backup exec.
However, the option to backup to disk is possibly available in the next version of backup exec.

Tilo is correct. BKup needs to have a recognizable media device for it to work.
