Backing up GP Client Code

We run GP on 2 Servers that users log into using Remote Desktop in order to use it. I was asked "to make a backup of the GP client code on our productions boxes". Is this a routine GP task or simply keeping a copy of the GP folder in the programs folder will suffice?

As you can tell, I am not a GP guy.
