How do you wall do your back ups of your server running Symposium?

I used to do a hot swap and replicate the data but that's causing issues now, so I just wanted to compare what everyone else was doing.

i back it up to a Net drive every Saturday. Just a share drive with matching credintials on Sym and on backup server.

Thanks for your reply, we're thinking about using Acronis to back it up to a net drive tomorrow.

Matchoo Keep in mind Nortel only supports Full system backup, All services must be brought down. But easiest is the Database backup. The only Caveat is that when using the Database backup you have to perform a platform migration to restore form a major crash. Where as if you have a full system backup it retores the whole server.

We prefer to do a backup of the full server. I should probably look into doing the database backup as well, I've never done it and it's probably important.

Is there anything I should keep in mind before doing a database backup?

Performing the Database backup if going to a tape installed on the server is fairly straight forward. However if your going to backup to a network drive its a little trickier. The documantation will give you the steps on how to do it. If you have problems just post your issue again.

Ok thanks, I don't have a tape in the server so that's not an option.

I'll read the documentation, thanks!
