Is there any way to put a background image on a crystal report? As in a watermark?
Thanks

Dear Raynkel,

Yes!

In your existing report, insert a new page header.

Drag the new page (b) header above the existing one (a) so that it becomes (a).

Insert your picture here (you have to design it elsewhere if you want it in a pale grayscale like a watermark).

Format the section Page Header A, click underlay following sections.

Preview, Size it if necessary to meet your needs, and you are done.

Hope that helps,

Thanks very much, that works great. One other question.
I am using the same report and printing 5 copies, changing page numbers conditionally as they print. Can this be made conditional? So it only prints on one of the 5 pages? ie.. a watermark for Accounts recievable like "A/R"?

Deary Raynkel,

Yes, what you would have to do in this case is create each of those 5 images and place one atop the other (I kind of cascade them a little tiny bit so that I can still select each one!).

But, as you place each picture on the page, right click and choose format, click the x-2 (formula editor) button and use formula as follows:

pagenumber <> X //where x = the pagenumber you want that
//picture to appear on

That should work for you (if you know that AR is always page1, name your images AR_PG1, SALES_PG2 which helps to limit the confusion that may ensue).

Let me know if you need more help.

Thanks
I am not sure of the steps involved. I right click on the image and choose "format graphic" You say to click the formula editor, but there are 4 of them emabled. I chose the first one, but in did not seem to work. It only showed both of the images I had included on both pages. Am I missing a step?
Thanks much
Ray

Dear Raynkel,

Right click on Graphic.

Format Grpahic.

Common Tab

Suppress Formula Editor button (x-2)

For each picture do:

pagenumber <> x //where x = the pagenumber on which you want
//it to appear!

Hope that was clearer.

That seems to be working, but not in the manner I had hoped. It works if the Invoice goes on to more than one page ie.. if the one invoice takes two pages, but if I print two copies of the same invoice, It puts the same image on the first page of both copies of the invoice. That is where I am hoping to have the change appear, not by page change, but by copy change.
would

copynumber <> X

work?
Thanks Ray

Dear Raynkel,

Okay, you say you are creating copies. What are you doing? Running the report multiple times? Please delineate the steps you are taking.

If you are running the report numerous times to achieve this - then create a parameter (as you noted above) copynumber.

Change the formula so that it references the parameter copynumber rahter than page number.

Thanks ,but another priority came up, this problem will have to wait.

My new problem is trying to print labels. I want to be able to print a variable number of labels depending on the number of items in the inventory. ie.. if I have 5 computers I need 5 labels for them. If I have 2 monitors I need 2 labels. Is there a formula for this? And how would it work?
I really appreciate your help.

I am getting Crystal Reports training in 3 weeks, but they need this before I get that training. :(

Dear Raynkel,

You should post this as a new topic so that you have everyone's help as only you and I have this thread marked.

If you do a search on labels you will see many topics, however, this response by Ken Hamady is one of the best:

thread149-258487

You could also do a stored procedure to create the records for the report based on the database field.

Hope that helps,
