I have opened a document that was created in an older version
of InDesign(2) and opened it in CS2.
The the text that is in the document has a colored background(pink), which I can't seem to get rid of. If I type something new into it, it works just fine.
I just do not want to retype the whole document. Is there a simple fix for this problem?

Yes. That pink background indicates where the font is missing. Find that and the background will be gone.

...locate the missing fonts required for this document and install them on your computer...
