Back up Tapes

Is there a special procedure for formatting a new tape to be used for Back ups? I have a Call Pilot version 02.01.27 and we just put in a new tape and I am getting the following error.

080511 2106 - The backup device is a local tape drive at \\.\TAPE0
080511 2106 - Error reading from tape, win32 rc=23, MAS rc=41827

080511 2106 - Could not format tape. Could not write tape header fails 41826

Is the protection on for the tape? Have you cleaned the tape drive lately? Do you have the correct tape for the drive?

Nothing special to formatting, just check format tape when setting up the backup schedule.

the CP 201i normally uses the SLR5 tapes. Make sure you have the correct tape for the drive.

I am having a similar problem with new SLT 5 tapes on my Call Pilot 4.0. My logs show that I am getting a partial but I am unable to determine from the hieroglyphics exactly what the db that isn't being backed up actually is. Here is the offending portion of my log:

Now I get this same error with my original tape which had been working flawlessly. Any insight greatly appreciated.

You might want to have your vendor look into it, if files are corrupt or data missing, you might not be able to use the backups.

I also have a CallPilot backup issue. I have a CallPilot 4.0 that won't do a scheduled backup. If I go to System> Backup restore it'll show the next scheduled backup but if I go look the next day in view back up history it's not there. Backup type is Full System Backup.
I can do backup now and this works great and shows up in the backup history.
Any suggestions??
