Hi,

I just want to know about the backup option in web interface. What does it back up? how often will i do that for my system? Where will be the backup go? What is its primary purpose?.. Thanks a lot..

The web backup allows you to save the entire system to the local flash cards so that if the hard drive dies you can recover your server. You can tell the backup to save the translations seperately as well. You have different options of where to store the backups. You can use FTP or SCP protocols to store the files onto another server or onto the local flash drive. You can also set a schedule of when you want these backups to happen, daily weekly, monthly etc.

If you don't have this set-up make sure this is the first thing you do after reading this. Consider your career at an end unless you make sure you have backups in place!!!

I run all 4 backups nightly to an FTP server. That server is then backuped to tape.

Hi,

I already setup scheduled FTP backup for my system. But i encountered problem if i will choose full backup in the option. If i will not choose full backup and choose selective it will be successful. Here is the error when i choose full backup and run. Please help me out. Thanks a lot.

THEPID is: 2190
backup: 10: Fatal error received from pre backup routine for ful; see log file
backup: 10: Pre_backup for full failed -- Backup terminated full
Performing ERROR RECOVERY, Please Wait....
Cant locate object method "quit" via package "ftp" (perhaps you forgot to load "ftp"?) at /opt/ecs/sbin/backup line....

This was a problem seen on older Communication Manager softwares. There are some patches that resolve this. If it bothers you, contact your Avaya partner to get the patches, if not, choosing all 3 backups will do the same job except there will be 3 files instead of just one file.

Phoneman,

Where I can get the patches? How to install that? What do you mean by 3 backups?

THanks a lot!!
