Has anyone backed up an Application server to a UC module on an SCN. Not server edition? I have the SMTP settings set up like any Primary and secondary server but no communication at all. Nothing show up in logs either.

UCM is almost an application server but not quite.
I would rather setup another application server than trying UCM.
I hate the UCM's and wasted a lot of time with them trying to make them work, fix the bugs (usually with upgrades that take forever) and troubleshooting why they don't work after reboots etc.....
take a $100 used PC and spend another $100 for a good HDD then install apps server 2 instead and be happy

Altough i agree with westi
if you have a uCM in a system & want to use it as a backu server it is not difficult
simply make sure the SMTP settings in the USm & the app server are correct

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear
