Hi All,
I have created a word document containing table of contents (created using the insert-reference -index & tables option in MS word). The word file is around 500 pages. When this word document is converted to pdf many user have complained about scrolling pages to go to the first page. Now i need to insert link in ever page so that user can go back to the table of contents page just by clicking on it. By inserting this and converting it in to pdf, users can easily go to the first page. i have seen this in many pdf but do not know how to create it? Please guide me.

thanks,

In every version of Word there is a command called GoTo TOC. It does just what it says on the box.

Simply add the command to users' toolbars or QAT. Now they don't have to scroll at all and if you assign it a shortcut key, it doesn't even need the use of a mouse.

If that is beyond their ability, edit your document to include its own custom toolbar with the GoTo TOC command on it.

Hi terry

thanks for the answer.

I knew this. My requirement is when the word document is converted to pdf using adobe, there must a link in all the page which when clicked should return to the table of content of the pdf document. similar to the "go to TOC" command in word

thanks for the support.

This then is an Adobe PDF issue, not a Word issue. I think it would probable require a full version of Adobe Acrobat, not simply a PDF making application.

Sorry not to have got back sooner: a little snow (6") and we have had no power (no Internet) for 17 hours!

As Gerry has said, you will need an all singing, all dancing PDF maker for this feature possibly the full Acrobat Professional (not cheap).
