Hello all:
I have read up a bit on the Backup Exec software 'cause we're planning to upgrade our existing backup exec 8.0 software so that it could backup the new SBS 2003 we're putting onto the network. I am just a bit confuse about the difference between BE v10.1 and BE v10d and was wonder if anybody could explain the difference and the usage of each version?
Would upgrading from our existing BE 8.0 to v10.1 be sufficient to backup SBS 2003 server? Another thing is that we don't have the media CD for Backup Exec 8 anymore. The entire server (hardware & software) was transferred over to us from another company who use to be part of the firm but they got dissolved. I do have the CDs of Backup Exec 8.5 Upgrade which were sent from Symantec. I also have the license keys for Exchange Agent for NT/2000, Open File Option, and the Remote Accelerator Agent.
If we purchase the BE v10 upgrade, would it install on top of the BE 8.5 Upgrade software (of which I have the software for?). Hope this make sense.
Our network consists of a backup exec server, NT/5.5 Exchange server and 3 windows 2000 adv file server. It's not a big infrastructure but definitely the layout will change again once SBS 2003 is introduce to the network. I will have to upgrade the backup exec server from NT to Windows 2000 OS. I have read a bit on Autoloader Agent, is this necessity when I upgrade the backup server?
Thanks!
Helen
