b179 config file- phone not using file

i've combed through this site and found several threads pertaining to this but none about the phone getting the file and doing nothing with it.

I have setup MV IPTEL(old but works like a champ) and can see the phone actually get the file:

HTTP GET request from - 192.168.10.45
HTTP Server: File requested :- "C:\Program Files (x86)\Avaya\MV_IPTel\data\HTTPdata\avayab179-A4583C46DBD6.xml"
Bytes transferred:- 7264

Problem is the phone doesnt actually do anything with it. For some reason if i double click on the xml file, ie is just blank, chrome shows "error on line 3...."

I'm thinking its in the way i'm exporting and saving the file? All i do is export from the web interface, then copy/paste into notepad++ and save as xml.

I also configured the phone with the web interface and then exported that config, so there were no alterations done to it, then tried to default the phone and try again. no dice.

any thoughts?

Try another file server. I sometimes use HFS but had similar problems with a config download of a router. So perhaps Apache (easy when you take the one out of the XAMPP package) can be an option.
