I have been installing these ACS processors for sometime now and was wondering, why is it when I call in from an outside line to the ACS I get a fax tone? This problem doesn't happen everytime just periodically, it becomes annoying. I do have a PC card in place with no auto attendent active. I do not have any backup/remote cards in system. Please Help it would be greatly appreciated!

Is one of the incoming POTs lines shared between the telephone system and a fax machine [ponder] Is there a fax machine connected to one of the telephone system's extensions [ponder]

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

Chances are the security system at the location of the ACS is picking up. Most security systems are programmed to answer a pots line if the line has received a call with only one ring followed immediately with another incoming call on the same line.

Ask your customer which line the security system dials out on and avoid this line when calling into the ACS. This should stop you from receiving "fax tones" which are really tones coming from the security CPU on premises.

Yes there is a fax on ex 17 but thats not the problem the fax extension ringers are turned off. The security system maybe the problem i'll have to check into that.
Thanks.
