B.E. on PDC?

Does anyone know if I can run BE 8.5 on my primary domain controller or does it have to be run from a backup server?

You can run it on a PDC or BDC without problem. I do it every day!

I guess I'm not as smart as I thought. I'm running Win2K server on a Dell PowerEdge 1400. I try to install BE 8.5 and when I run it, I get an error message that says..."Unable to connect to the backup server." I don't have a backup server. How do I tell it that? I can't seem to get past the error.

Are the BE services running? Sometimes the install doesn't turn them on. Be sure they are started and set to automatic.

This is a listing from my PDC. They should all be set to automatic.
Go to Control Panle/Services. You should see:

Backup Exec 8.x Agent Browser Running
Backup Exec 8.x Alert Server Running
Backup Exec 8.x Device & Media Running
Backup Exec 8.x Job Engine Running
Backup Exec 8.x Naming Service Running
Backup Exec 8.x Notification Server Running
Backup Exec 8.x Server Running
