I have an AVP connected to a Merlin Legend and it seems to have lost the greetings and messages after a power surge last week. When you dial an extension, AVP answers and asks for extension #, then password. After inputting password, goes to silence for about 15 to 15 seconds, then repeats the request for the extension # again. Have tried a power down and back up, but no good. Any ideas? Not sure if customer has back up tape and can't find one.

What is an AVP?? From your description - it sounds like the hard drive and/or voicemail module was damaged during the power surge.

AVP - that would be "Audix Voice Power", no?

Check to be sure DTMF is being passed from the Legend to the AVP, but it probably is. You may have a corupt hard drive, and need to reload the software.

Hey Tommy,

You were correct, it is the hard drive. Unfortunately, this is a system owned by a State Prison System and no one knows where the software is, nor do they have any back ups. Trying to get them to replace it, but they want to wait until next year's budget so we'll see what happens.

Hey Merlinman,

We are in the process of getting approavl to replace teh existing Legend and AVP with IPOffice, but the state process is very slow. Thaks for the response.

You'd save a lot of state dollars - by just buying a new Merlin Messaging module!
