We have just received a Satelite to facilitate wireless connection to Internet; and the technicians are using static addresses for TCP/IP . I wanted the computers to obtain the IP addresses automatixcally and the technicians seem not to know. Is it true wireless connection uses static addresses only ? Nkabirwa Sowed Magezi

Wireless connections can use DHCP server information just as wired ones can.

Imatthec is correct.

You might also want to adjust the lease time if the wireless users disconnect frequently, to preserve address avalability.

You can use DHCP within your network, also NAT so you can avoid Static IP addressing. A+, MCP, CCNA
