Hello, does anyone knows how to build a button in director, that has the capability do pause and unpause an AVI movie?

It would be very nice if i could get an anwser.

Thank you

Alex from Portugal

I would use quicktime, for some very odd reason pausing avis isn't possible (if i remember correctly) you can pause quicktime though.

sorry, not the aswer you wanted I expect but its the solution i have always ended up with, there are some xtras out there that may help you, have a look on macromedia web site at the list of xtras.

or you could get MPEG xtra and it gives you all the buttons you need
play pause FF RW, stop and even a time line scrolly thing etc only works on MPEGs though

To pause the video you have to use:

sprite(n).movierate=1

And play the video use:

sprite(n).movierate=0

I hope I helped you.

Oh yeah, forgot you could do it that way, maybe its audio that you cant pause correctly.
You can also make it play backwards doing this by setting movierate=-1

In my project the audio pause correctly, but if you have any problem I have a program more complex that works with video without problems too.
