Avaya Vantage Handset

Hi,

Anyone played with the Vantage Handsets yet?

I've downloaded the firmware, do we NEED to setup a HTTP server or is there a better way of doing it (eg: files on SD card)? Also any recommendations on alternative HTTP servers (Non-ISS)if we need to go down that route.

If anyone has any cheat-sheets or tips they would be greatly appreciated.

If you have checked other threads how can that still be unclear to you?

Also I assume you are using HTTP to download firmware to 96xx phones today, a Vantage should get the firmware from the same location as your 96xx phones..
If you don't wanna use IPO or IIS as webserver Apache would be the best alternative.

If you've read the manual then you know the answer to your first question - which is no, you can't use the IP Office system to serve the Vantage files. That applies even for Server Edition.

I won't make any recommendations (other than hate IIS). Personally I have a number of Synology servers as they perform a number of other roles for my network (DNS, email) so they were already available to also host files.

The only tips are A) check the strings and double check B) be patient, even when the file URL strings are correct it can take a while before the Vantage device starts upgrading and that upgrade takes time.
