I have a remote office (G700/s8300) and it is connected to an AVAYA UPS model 194384. Does anyone use this anywhere? Reason being it the site had a building power failure and the UPS didn't kick in. It was as if the UPS is setup to be a surge protector as opposed to a 'UPS' where it provided power. This UPS should be able to keep the site up for 4 hours. Does anyone know if this is a configuration thing or is the UPS an issue?

Odds are it's just the batteries are dead. The only other reason could be it's in maintenance bypass, which makes it useless. It just bypasses the UPS and sends out commercial power without battery backup. If so I would highly recommend not spending any more money on that unit. But replace it with a APC.
You will have to go to the unit and run diagnostics. It should show you if the batteries are dead or if it is in bypass mode. Again APC is a lot better way to go. With the network management cards i can log into any of the ones I have to see. They show what the problems are, estimated run times, faults and failures. Just a nicer unit all the way around.
