Avaya UPS down

We have Avaya 8700 servers plugging into Avaya UPS units.
One UPS unit is no longer working after a power outage so we are wondering if we can just plug the 8700 server into a normal power outlet in the wall not using the UPS.
Will this work?

Also the 8700 manual says that upon installing the servers it must be "verified that the customer-provided AC power to the rack is from a nonswitched outlet".
Why is this important?

I'd say you can plug it in to an outlet. I believe that the switching means that a switch can't turn it off, aka -always on.

So you don't walk in the server room and flip off a light switch and turn off your servers!

Yeah, you can plug'em into 120AC. But, if they're old S8700s and not 8710s or 20s or 30s, then they're really old.

They're tanks. And I'll bet that the UPS's are isolating too so if you used something like a Fluke 1710 voltage logger, you'd see real clean stuff from the UPS-->servers and you could see awful garbage from the wall-->UPS

You can go straight to the wall if you don't mind gambling on your power quality vs your old power supplies!

most ups units can be put into bypass mode so this way it can still remained plugged into the ups.

I have plugged the server directly into the wall and things are working.

Since the power outage I have major alarms, PKT-INT alarms, what do those mean?:
